Summer's almost over...

Grade 8 - Those of you doing the Cyrano de Bergerac study questions, please note that under Act IV and V on the study question sheet, the phrase "melt down their manhood" in Question 1 is taken from a different translation of the play. Your edition translates the French as "You'll weaken them by stirring up such feelings" (Carbon, p. 159).

Everyone - It turns out the school bought storage notebooks for you, so you don't have to bring one to class on Tuesday. These notebooks are cheaper and may have to be replaced later in the year, but you're good for now.

Hope you've had a great summer. See you soon!

And they danced (some of) the night away

Beautiful young ladies and handsome young men attended the Xavier Pemberley Ball last Friday night.

Grade 7 - Study your Latin/Greek roots. Read aloud to an adult, and have them sign your reading log. Practice your part for the act you will perform on May 12. Complete the fourth section of your Act II Tempest handout.

Grade 8 - Study your Latin/Greek roots. Read aloud to an adult, and have them sign your reading log. The rough draft of your essay is due tomorrow.

Grade 9 - Study your Latin/Greek roots. Practice your part for the act you will perform on May 8. Underline and annotate the Book of Matthew handout.

Eighth Grade Pemberley Ball

With pride, and no prejudice, Grade Eight proudly presents some of its beautiful young ladies and handsome young men:

Per aspera ad astra! (Through difficulties to the stars!)

Eighth Graders - Since there are a number of you who don't understand how to put your time lines together, I'll let you ask questions tomorrow and have you turn them in on Tuesday instead.

Meanwhile, I'll give extra credit to those of you that are ready to pass them in tomorrow.
