Grade 6 - Read twenty minutes aloud from from Julius Caesar to an adult, and have them sign your reading log. Read Act IV, Scene 3 in the book. What three mistakes has Brutus made to date? Write a paragraph listing them with a brief explanation of why they were mistakes. Memorize your part in the short version of the play (handout).

Grade 7 - You have finished reading The Tempest. You will write a one-page (double spaced) typed essay on ONE of the two topics below:

1. What are the utopian (impractically perfect) and dystopian (as bad as can be) elements in The Tempest?
2. Discuss the relationship between Ariel and Prospero, and contrast it with the relationship between Caliban and Prospero.

Your paper is due Monday. You are expected to use direct quotes from the play, along with other specific examples of actions and dialogue put in your own words.


Grade 8 - You have finished reading Twelfth Night. You will write a two-page (double spaced) typed essay on ONE of the two themes below:

1. Things are not always what they seem.
2. Love can be foolish sometimes.

Your paper is due Monday. You are expected to use direct quotes from the play, along with other specific examples of actions and dialogue put in your own words.
