Grade 6 – Study your Latin vocabulary. Finish reading Chapter XLVIII, “Minutes of the Proceedings,” in The Count of Monte Cristo aloud to an adult, and have them sign your reading log. Answer the following study questions:
1. Chapter XLVIII: How does Noirtier dissuade Franz from marrying Valentine?
2. Remember that it was the members of the Jacobin party who wrote the report of the incident with General d’Epinay. The Jacobins were French left-wing revolutionaries opposed to the monarchy. At every step the General is the offender. Why do you think that their views of the events are biased?
Grade 7 - Study your Latin vocabulary. Read through page 69 in Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Read aloud to an adult, and have them sign your reading log. Imagine you are a child in Nazi Germany and have been chosen to go to an ‘Order Castle’. Write a three-paragraph (five sentence minimum each paragraph) account explaining what you did and what happened to your colleagues. It can be a diary, a letter or written as a memoir.
Grade 8 - Study your Latin vocabulary and endings. Using your first three topic sentences, write three supporting paragraphs for your paper (minimum five sentences each) on Pride and Prejudice. Use examples and short quotes from your text. Read chapters 4 and 5 in To Kill a Mockingbird aloud to an adult, and have them sign your reading log.
